Speech: His Grace Is Sufficient

My Thoughts todayMy parents raised me to be obedient. “Do what is right," "do what they ask," "obey teachers at school." "God wants you to be obedient” are some of the things I remember learning. Somehow I translated that into I can’t get back to Heaven unless I obey. My parents also punished me when I did not obey. So, I grew up thinking that I was bad and for every “bad” thing I did I had to do a “good” to make up for it. I know I was not alone in that thinking, perhaps you too thought that way. Fortunately it is NOT truth. No matter what I do I cannot earn my way to heaven and neither can anyone else. Jesus Christ is the only way. The scriptures tell us this in John 14:6-7: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Ponder this from the speech:
"The miracle of the Atonement is not just that we can live after we die but that we can live more abundantly (see John 10:10). The miracle of the Atonement is not just that we can be cleansed and consoled but that we can be transformed (see Romans 8). Scriptures make it clear that no unclean thing can dwell with God (see Alma 40:26), but, brothers and sisters, no unchanged thing will even want to."

Audacious Faith: The Unique Power and Singular Appeal of LDS Doctrine | ...

Definition: The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word audacious as “daring, bold, confident, intrepid.”

Speech:  I listened to the speech "Audacious Faith" today and realized many of the things I believe, I have believed a very long time and it surprised me, again, to think that most of the World does not believe them. So, as you listen to this speech I hope the spirit whispers to you that they are true. If so you are on your way to becoming who you were born to be. A child of God with the potential to be like him. This too is audacious.

Ponder this from the speech:  "Is it audacious to believe that God has a tangible, perfected body, that He communicates with His Children today, and that His Church has been restored and is led by prophets and apostles?" Or, I add, is it truth?

My thoughts today:  To the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my declaration that I believe there is a Prophet today who is directing the affairs of His Church and of the World during these the last days, before the coming of Jesus Christ to rule nd reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, is truth.
But to the rest of the world I am peculiar or even audacious. My first recollection of this testimony of prophets came in 1958 (I was 9 years old) as I listened to Spencer W. Kimball speak at General Conference in Salt Lake City. It was televised to my home in Sandpoint, Idaho where I sat with my Mother and Father and my siblings. I was amazed that he was able to force air to make speech after having cancer surgery on this throat in 1957. I was overcome with the realization that with God, nothing is impossible... If god wanted me to hear this Prophet I had better listen. As I listened the Holy Spirit whispered to me that this man was speaking for God--he was a true prophet. Since that experience I have witnessed anew the same spirit's whisper with each succeeding prophet. My faith's foundation is in Jesus Christ. He my Saviour and Redeemer, the only begotten son of the Eternal Father in Heaven. I love Him, worship Him, adore Him, testify of Him, and rejoice in Him. I am so thankful he sent prophets to teach us His words, doctrine, Truths, revelations; and share His love.
